Plantar Fasciitis (Plantar Heel Pain) Treatment in Lahore

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common conditions causing heel pain. It involves inflammation of the plantar fascia which is a tough, fibrous band of tissue that runs along the sole of the foot. It helps support the arch of the foot and has an important role in normal foot mechanics during walking.

Causes:

It often presents as an overuse injury, primarily due to repetitive strain causing micro-tears of the plantar fascia but can occur as a result of trauma or other multifactorial causes.

 

Risk factors:

  1. Improper shoe fit
  2. Pes cavus or pes planus deformities
  3. Elevated BMI
  4. Presence of a sub calcaneal spur
  5. Diabetes Mellitus (and/or other metabolic condition)
  6. Leg length discrepancy

Signs and Symptoms

  1. Heel pain with first steps in the morning or after long periods of non-weight bearing
  2. Tenderness to the anterior medial heel
  3. Limited dorsiflexion and tight achilles tendon
  4. A limp may be present or may have a preference to toe walking
  5. Pain is usually worse when barefoot on hard surfaces and with stair climbing
  6. Many patients may have had a sudden increase in their activity level prior to the onset of symptoms
