Sacroiliac Joint Pain Treatment in Lahore
Sacroiliac joint pain is felt in the low back and buttocks. Pain arising from the sacroiliac joint is one of the potential causes of low back pain.
Causes
- The traumatic causes of pain are:
- Pelvic ring fractures
- Soft tissue injury from fall onto the buttock
- Indirect injury from motor vehicle collision and
- Sudden / repeated heavy lifting/strain or torsion
- The atraumatic causes of sacroiliac joint pain are:
- Spondyloarthropathy
- Osteoarthritis
- Infection
- Previous lumbar fusion
- Pregnancy
- Leg length discrepancy
- Scoliosis
- Sacroiliitis (inflammatory processes present in the SI joint)
- Repetitive shear and torsional forces may arise from various sports like figure skating, golf, and bowling
Signs and Symptoms
- Pain is usually localized over the buttock
- Patients often complain of sharp, stabbing, and/or shooting pain which extends down the posterior thigh usually not past the knee.
- Difficulty sitting in one place for too long due to pain
- Local tenderness of the posterior aspect of the sacroiliac joint
- Pain occurs when the joint is mechanically stressed
- Pain occurs while sitting down, lying on the ipsilateral side of pain, or climbing stairs
